Why Anushka Sharma loves Slurrp Farm

In October 2016, two mothers, Meghana Narayan and Shauravi Malik, came together to embark on a journey with a common mission in mind: to provide healthy, yummy and natural meals for children.

They were concerned about the dysfunctional food system and quickly realised that reintroducing sustainable, nutrient-dense, and diversified products into children’s diets would take ingenuity and inventiveness.

Slurpp Farm

Soon this journey manifested into a food brand dubbed Slurrp Farm, which is now loved by 500,000 children from the last 6 years. Indian actress Anushka Sharma has now joined the team as a brand ambassador and investor.

Meghana and Shauravi followed their intuition to take collective action about children’s nutrition. It took them three years of tinkering and experimenting in their home kitchen with recipes from their own childhood, including ingredients like Ragi, and trying to figure out how to make them appetising.

Meghana is dedicated to changing the statistics of childhood malnutrition. She led McKinsey & Company’s Public Health practice before founding Slurrp Farm. Shauravi, on the other hand, has almost a decade of finance experience.

The superfoods of Slurrp Farm

At Slurrp Farm, they have created a number of superfoods. These foods are made with a variety of nutrient-dense ingredients like Ragi, Jowar, Foxtail Millet, Lentils, Oats, Amaranth, and Nuts, as well as excellent fats like real Butter, real Fruits and Vegetables, and natural sweeteners like Jaggery and Honey.

The duo began with a Chocolate Ragi Cookie and have now expanded to include items such as toddler cereal, kids cereal, pancakes and dosas, noodles, and cakes. Ragi, Almond & Banana Cereal, Strawberry, Ragi & Rice Cereal, Sathu Maavu Porridge Mix, Spinach Multigrain Millet Dosa Mix, and Banana Choco Chip Millet Pancakes are among their best-selling items.

Super Foods

First foods such as sprouted ragi powder and oats powder are also included.

The product range also features superfoods like Nut Powder and Chia Seeds, as well as dairy-free, gluten-free, and salt- and sugar-free goods. Jaggery Powder and Date Powder are two of the natural sweeteners.

These items are not only healthy for the children, but they are also beneficial to the environment. This is because foods like Millets only require a third of the water that Rice does. They’re robust cereals that can tolerate extended periods of drought and grow with little chemicals or fertiliser. As a result, they are naturally organic.

Ragi, a staple ingredient in most of their products, is high in phosphorus, which helps with bone and tooth health, digestion, and pH balance in the body. It also contains three times the amount of calcium found in a glass of milk.

Slurrp Farm presently sells its products in India through its own direct-to-consumer platform, as well as e-commerce and fast commerce platforms including Amazon, Big Basket, FirstCry, and Swiggy Instamart. Its items are also sold at modern trade stores in India and the United Arab Emirates, as well as online in the United States and the United Kingdom.
