Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare Minister M.R.K. Panneerselvam on Saturday has announced missions to increase the production of oilseeds and millets in Tamil Nadu.
Presenting the Agriculture Budget for 2025, he said the Tamil Nadu Oil Seed Mission would be implemented at a cost of ₹108.06 crore to achieve self-sufficiency. He added that the Tamil Nadu Millet Mission seeks to increase the area of cultivation, production, and production capacity. The total allocation is ₹55.44 crore.
The Minister also unveiled a scheme to increase the cultivation and production of maize at a cost of ₹40.27 crore. The allocation for the implementation of Kalaignarin All Village Integrated Agriculture Development Programme in 2,338 village panchayats is ₹269.50 crore.
