Shubhika Jain started her working career in the agri-business division of her family business and the essential oils manufacturing and trading unit. After closely working in the sector, she was exposed to the authentic essential oils and aromas that were manufactured all around the world. She soon realised that the products right from mass market to luxury brands were not really using the ingredients in their pure and authentic form and international brands were buying the rich ingredients from India and after formulation selling it back to us.
That’s when Ras was conceptualised in 2017. Ras means essence and happiness in Sanskrit. The brand also has a goal to bring-in the true authenticity of natural products from its farms to the world.
Shubhika shares, “As a company, these were and are our brand pillars. From our work in research and development, production, marketing/communications and customer service; everything we do must be transparent, pure and responsible. We are a vertically integrated company where everything happens in house including R&D in a DSIR approved lab and production.”
Ras Luxury Oils have been into the manufacturing and agricultural field since quite some time now. “We were also into essential oil manufacturing for the past 8 years, manufacturing and exporting essential oils from central India. We always truly understood the power of natural botanicals and the authenticity of the product as well and the quality and effort that goes in manufacturing a natural product. Initially, the process of actually formulating and getting the right product mix was a challenge but as we have our own DSIR approved research lab we were able to quickly come up with amazing formulations,” says Shubhika.
Nectar in the name
The name ‘Ras’ means nectar of delight, essence, flavour; happiness. Shubhika adds, “The simplest and most bewildering expression in the Sanskrit language, ‘Ras’ is an undefinable experience. “Ras” is the soul of poetry, a flavour of aesthetic emotion. A word which has now become synonymous with essence or elixir, “Ras” is the pleasure experienced by human beings.” The word “Ras” also means a mystical feeling that is not experienced in common situations but only in the form of art.
