About us

Once upon a Time everything was Organic

A few decades ago, a lady in the US went to court to sue a butter company that had printed the word ‘LITE’ on its product packaging. She argued that she had gained so much weight from eating the butter, though it was labelled as being ‘LITE’. In court, the lawyer representing the butter company simply held up the container of butter and said to the judge, “My client did not lie. The container is indeed ‘light in weight’. The woman lost the case.

The word ‘Organic’ has been often loosely used in our modern day enthusiasm to sound philanthropic and Earth friendly. According to Merriam Webster, ‘Organic’ means “relating to, or derived from living organisms” and “produced or involving production without the use of chemical fertilisers, pesticides, or other artificial chemicals.”  In that sense, once upon a time whatever we ate or drank or wore were free of chemicals and pesticides. But not anymore. This is the price we have paid for progress.

It took us just ONE pandemic to realise what we have done to ourselves and our World. Hopefully, we can still reverse the damage to some extent. The time has come to pledge to give back to the Earth what we took from her. Fortunately, we have a brigade of Organic Farmers and Entrepreneurs, custodians of the Earth, who have been resolutely building an organic supply chain, not just worldwide but in India as well.

The Organic Magazine is an ode to that Community. Your daily dose of everything that’s happening in the Organic business – News, Views, Stories about Entrepreneurs, New Products, Labelling & Certification, Packaging  – across all segments of Textiles,  Food & Beverage, Bodycare, Wellness & Spa, Botanicals and even Tourism. We have it all covered. What’s more important, we will feature ONLY those companies and brands which are Organic Certified. Because all things labelled as Organic are quite simply NOT.

So join the Organic Movement.  Welcome onboard.
