Vaayu Tech is the world’s first automated carbon software, which helps online retailers calculate their carbon emissions in real time. This software focuses on finding out the amount of emissions and how these can be reduced or avoided by any means possible.
The software also helps identify hotspots using granular carbon data refreshed daily with the help of the company’s dashboard. It was founded in 2020 by CEO Namrata Sandhu, CTO Luca Schmid, and CPO Anita Daminov. In 2022, the company raised US$ 11.5 million in a seed funding round.
Namrata, in her own right, has done her education in subjects like Environment and Sustainable development from the University College London and a Sustainability Executive Leadership Program from Harvard University. Luca meanwhile got a lot of experience working in companies like Vimcar, where he grew from a developer to a team leader.
Together they have formed this company which now helps online retailers to track their carbon emissions. This way retailers can reduce their carbon footprint.
Many companies have used Vaayu Tech’s software and found good results. Companies like Klarna and Ace & Tate has recently teamed up with Vaayu to use their technology. Thanks to its recent partnership with Klarna, customers will now have access to detailed product carbon footprinting for more than 50
million fashion products. As a result, 150 million buyers worldwide will receive concrete information about the environmental impacts of their finalised purchases.
Gamechanger
Other companies which have used this technology include Organic Basics, Missoma, Planet Positive, and recently CapitalT. Vaayu Tech believes that its technology will make it easier for even small businesses to understand their carbon footprints. Because usually, those companies are most hesitant to follow any process in controlling harmful carbon emissions as they are not aware of the tools and the process. Vaayu Tech helps in providing simplicity in the process and helps those companies understand how they can go about it. And retail in itself is a good way to start. As the UN says that the fashion industry contributes to around 10% of global greenhouse gas emissions.
Global carbon dioxide emissions need to be reduced by 45% by 2030 and Vaayu aims to do just that by helping retailers reduce their own carbon footprint.
