A step towards toothpaste tablets and shampoo bars

A rani’ is the Sanskrit word for a twig that is used to start a fire. Arani Ecosteps is the name of the spark that has come to life to fight plastic pollution. For Gauri Gupta and Shivraj Negi, Arani Ecosteps was initially an awareness page focused on the menace caused by single-use plastic. As time passed, the duo learnt more and more about this widespread ecological problem, and towards the next year, the awareness page became more than just a social media bubble.

The essential concept of the brand is to be one of “daily essentials as dry concentrates and packaged completely without plastic.” Most of the cleaning liquids and personal care items in the market currently can be packed as solid and dry concentrates with absolutely zero hassle. Unlike liquids that always require plastic to be packed without any leaking crevices, solid concentrates can endure long journeys inside paper wrappers. The formula is to create a solute which can be added to water at home, and after dissolving completely, the resultant solution can be used to clean.

The best part is that it completely eradicates the need to get hold of more plastic bottles and cans, as the product is advisors. Towards June 2021, the venture took a sturdier physical form with its move to Gurgaon and multiple retail partnerships across Chennai, Kochi and Mumbai – the goal was to make sustainable products easily accessible to a greater population. An essentials and refill store for a range of non-toxic home care products was soon opened in Gurgaon as well.
