The 80% Alcohol Antiseptic is denatured without any toxic chemicals

A recent study in Clinical Infectious Diseases showed that SARS CoV-2, the virus that causes Covid-19, can stay on the skin for up to 9 hours but was completely inactivated within 15 seconds of exposure to 80% ethanol. Hand sanitisers are over-the-counter (OTC) products regulated by the FDA. And all ethanol alcohol used in hand sanitisers is required by the FDA to be denatured. But not all denaturants are created equal. In fact, there are dozens of inexpensive, highly toxic denaturants, such as methanol, 1-propanol, denatonium benzoate, silicone or propylene glycol – but the FDA doesn’t allow manufacturers to list denaturants in a hand sanitiser’s ingredients. However, Earth Mama is dedicated to full transparency: so while it’s not listed in the ingredients panel, Earth Mama’s Hand Sanitizer uses lavender essential oil as a denaturant, instead.
The good news?
