Parin and Mohita Jain: Our Berrytree baby has grown

Parenting is a daunting task, and today you’re overwhelmed with a plethora of options around the market. You want the best for your baby, safe and free from chemicals. Parin and Mohita Jain decided to brighten the prospects of Organic Cotton kids clothing in India and so they launched their own baby, Berrytree.

With its unique offerings in several segments related to kids, newborn baby dress and organic baby clothes online, Berrytree has something for every age group.organic clothing for kids

Parin says, “Berrytree was a well thought of plan. We wanted to create an umbrella of high quality certified organic products for babies and kids. We wanted India to experience Organic Cotton and avail all its benefits. We wanted to create awareness and be the largest Organic Cotton Kid’s Clothing brand here. Happy to share, that, we’ve achieved this fairly quickly and are growing at a steady pace.”

All Berrytree products are made by hand, by craftsmen who understand the value of Organic Cotton and are highly skilled to control its vulnerability.

Baby steps

Speaking about the challenges faced in the initial years, Mohita says, “We faced a lot of hurdles since we started small, and didn’t have any experience. We had to rely on the information that was available in the public domain. Just the basics of finding the right raw materials, or experienced manufacturers or even creating informative brand communication was difficult initially. Many suppliers were apprehensive in working with smaller quantities, but as time passed, we were able to increase our capacities and things began to fall in place. There was a lot of experimenting done to achieve the quality and understand timelines of productions, this was quite frightening too.”organic clothing for kids

Today, the company specialises in Organic Cotton Clothes for babies and kids. Right from the premature age category to up to 8 years, they have a large catalogue of infant wear, tshirts, night suits, dresses and sweatshirts. All the members in the supply chain (from growing the organic cotton to stitching the final garment) are duly certified by the corresponding certification bodies. “We only use GOTS certified fabrics to make our garments and maintain a strict adherence to all the guidelines provided. Our packaging is eco-friendly too,” adds Parin.

As for exports Mohita says, “We’ve always been India focused. Our primary aim is to be a strong brand in our home country first. The world can follow after.”organic clothing for kids

Parin outlines future plans for the brand, “Consistency and steady growth are the two main objectives for us in the near future. We want to reach a larger audience through stronger communications, wider seller base and a larger variety. We want to reach out to parents that want the best product for their kids while teaching them the importance of being environment friendly. We are currently looking at creating a club for our loyal customers, so we can reward the people who have shopped with us continuously from our starting days.”kid

Why Organic clothes are good for Babies…..and for Our Planet

  • Baby Skin

Babies have very delicate skin. It takes a while before their skin develops resistance to harmful chemicals and the harsh environment. Which is why we see a lot of rashes today. Organic Cotton is naturally, heavenly soft. It’s chemical free and allows the skin to breathe freely.

  • Farmer Friendly

When you buy Organic Cotton, you support the well-being of a handful of farmers that have understood the importance of organic farming. These farmers put in numerous hours of strict labor and patience in order to produce a fantastic crop that is clean, sustainable and chemical free.

  • Environment-Friendly

Organic Cotton is grown using traditional farming techniques which include crop rotation, use of natural manures, and recycling of water. Unlike Non-Organic farming, it restricts the use of harmful chemicals, thereby making it a more environmentally friendly and a sustainable product.

  • Sustainable

It is believed that nearly 20% of all water pollution comes from making non-organic clothing. We aim to reduce this number by helping the world shift to Organic Clothing.

  • Lasts longer

Harmful chemicals in Non-Organic clothing tend to weaken the cotton fibre which makes the garment tear. Organic Cotton Clothing, on the other hand, can last up to 5 times longer, and it gets softer each time you wash it.
