Climate Change Action: Leonardo di Caprio, Lady Gaga among Hollywood stars rallying for Build Back Better Now

Climate change in the 21st century has become the biggest challenge, and Hollywood is now taking initiatives to draw attention to reducing Carbon footprint by writing a letter to the US government.

Famous Hollywood actors like Leonardo Di Caprio, Lady Gaga, filmmaker Lin-Manuel Miranda, and singer Camila Cabello, along with 60 other industry artists, filmmakers, directors as well as entertainment and social media experts are signatories to a letter seeking their support to influence the United Congress in passing the resolution on the Climate-Change Agenda.

The letter titled ‘Build Back Better Now’ was addressed to President Biden, as it was his agenda during the presidential race. The Build Back Better Agenda is an ambitious plan of Biden’s to create jobs, cut taxes, and lower costs for working families – all paid for by making the tax code fairer and making the wealthiest and large corporations pay their fair share.  The agenda looks into the vision of the president and his views on climate change as a clean job which will be established as an energy efficiency and clean energy standard. Expanding and extending clean energy and electric vehicle tax credits, and enrolling in a new Civilian Climate Corps. Agenda also focuses on Lower Child Care Costs, Lower Higher Education Costs, Lower Prescription Drug Costs, Lower Health Care Cost, Lower Housing Costs.

Summer 2021 itself saw people struggling with weather changes and its adverse effects. California declared a state emergency due to the rise in temperature, and therefore actors took initiatives. The letter was also addressed to production companies like Netflix, Walt Disney, Amazon, Apple, Warner media, Sony Pictures among many others.  A letter was written in collaboration with Natural Resources Defense Council Action Fund NRDC, a parental environmentalist organization.

According to 2019, The United States itself produces 14.5% of Carbon Emission which is second-highest in global production after China. And want the Biden Government to take actions and pass “Robust Plan Action on Climate Change. After the actors called for action,  Netflix shared a statement explaining the measures it will be taking to achieve “net zero greenhouse gas emissions by the end of 2022, and every year afterwards.”
