Bring in the New Year with Amul’s single origin indulgences

Amul’s Single Origin Dark Chocolates are single origin chocolates made from cacao beans sourced from different geographical areas around the world, using local raw materials for a global chocolate bar.

The meaning of single-origin
The cocoa used to make a chocolate makes a huge impact on its taste. When this fruit is grown in one region, in some instances a single estate or plantation but in most instances a single country, the beans take on the characteristics of the region. A chocolate made with cacao from a single region is called single origin chocolate.  Many terms used to describe single-origin chocolate will be familiar to wine lovers – earthy, floral, herbal and berry, to name a few. When cacao is blended, the effect of terroir is lost.  It is due to the climate and soil, together with the techniques of cacao farming and harvesting, that origin chocolates each own a signature flavour profile. Certain countries or regions make beans with outstanding flavour profiles, which earn them the name “fine flavour”.

Organic Products
Amul currently has chocolates from India, Peru, Madagascar, Tanzania, Venezuela, Equador, Columbia and Ivory Coast. It has 55% cocoa to satisfy your indulgent cravings. Each variety has a distinct taste to it, giving the consumer an after-taste of silky richness. The bars do not have any grittiness in them. The cherry on top is that these chocolates contain mostly cocoa for flavour. Just pure cocoa solids and butter. The only additional flavour is of vanilla.

Cocoa, according to health professionals, is a rich source of anti-oxidants, iron, calcium and other minerals besides its ‘bitter’ taste.

Pairing the chocolates
Since these chocolates have a bitter taste in them, they will create a desirable combo with sweet coffee. You can go for a cappuccino with the Tanzania Chocolat Noir with its nuttiness or pair the India Twilight Tryst with a cup of freshly frothed filter coffee, with both the chocolate and coffee from the Southern region.
These chocolates can be used in desserts as well. Anything that requires dark chocolate, or as ingredients in smoothies and shakes.Amul single origin chocolate

Here is a recipe for a milkshake made with dark chocolate, a drink for the kid inside you:
It is fairly simple, just chop up roughly 0.5 cup of dark chocolate and melt it in a microwave or a double boiler. Take 1.5 cups of chilled milk and pour in a mixer jar. Add the melted chocolate and some sugar, then blend till frothy. You can also add Amul’s vanilla ice-cream to this for a creamier and sweeter taste.
With its sleek packaging and generous size, Amul Single Origin chocolates and great packaging (The prints of fauna native to a single region), these chocolates make great gifts for this Holiday Season.
