In September 2021, Shobana & Navneethan, a dynamic duo, founded BlushBee Organic Beauty, a homegrown, purposefully conscientious, and organic beauty brand with modest beginnings and big ambitions.
The journey began when Shobana, the co-founder of BlushBee, was very particular about the products she used on her skin and mostly purchased her cosmetics from the US or Europe because the ones she preferred were unavailable in India. She later discovered, though, that her favourite items contained native Indian components. Realising this, she started to make products for her own use, which soon turned into a business that quickly flourished into a successful brand.
Guilt-free beauty
Twelve interesting lipstick tones, two eyeshadow palettes, five blush colours, sixteen shades of nail polish, rose mist face toner, soy-based nail polish remover, and organic micellar water are just a few of the important cosmetics the brand offers. The BlushBee Organic Beauty products are made with a sense of responsibility to preserve nature. The brand also employs recyclable and sustainable eco-friendly packaging materials wherever possible in an effort to be ecologically conscientious. To give it the desired tint, it has FDA-approved synthetic colour that is added in very small amounts. Additionally, the duo are very transparent about every ingredient that go into making their products.
“We are PETA certified and meet recognised standards for being vegan and cruelty-free. We have a wide range of natural vegan nail polishes, lipsticks, blush, and eyeshadows for everyone who loves make-up. Our raw materials are carefully handpicked and scientifically formulated to give you nothing but THE best products for your skin,” says Shobana.
The “Industrial Outlook Award” for 2022 has been given to BlushBee Organic Beauty. It won the award for the top plant-based startup as well. The vegan beauty company is delighted to participate in the Femina online beauty fair. Furthermore, Filmfare has also endorsed it.
Small beginnings, big dreams
Starting the business however came with its own challenges. “Since there was no established formula, we had to start from scratch to identify safe substitutes for chemical compounds, locate plants and ethically source the indigenous Indian ingredients. Being a pioneer in the market, a lot of R&D and time had to go into ensuring the finished products did not compromise on the look or feel, in addition to their quality,” shares Navneethan.
The brand aims to make cruelty-free, sustainable, and natural beauty products, accessible to every beauty-conscious person out there for the long run.
“We want BlushBee to become a one-stop shop for beauty essentials – for both daily and party use,” sums up Shobana.
