Earthon: Farmer focus

Farmer welfare is at the core of this organic food enterprise started by Manoj Karthikeyan & Sujata Gaonkar.

Manoj Karthikeyan and Sujata Gaonkar, two IT professionals had a vision of celebrating India’s diverse local produce and highlighting the native indigenous grains of our country. With this as their prime focus, the duo launched their brand Earthon way back in 2011.

This rapidly expanding organic food company was established with the goal of changing people’s perceptions of organic food and assisting small farmers in receiving a fair price. “Welfare for small farmers and their families by making a suitable market available for their produce has been Earthon’s fundamental goal,” Manoj says.

What began as a small, home-based business with family members serving as employees has grown into a fully-fledged, professional organisation in Mumbai with significant distributors in the North and South Indian markets. The business now operates even overseas in Australia and the US.

An organic choice

“Earthon’s products promise excellent quality and are gaining popularity. The products include a wide variety of organic aromatic whole spices and spice powders, cereals, herbs, sweeteners like multi-floral wild honey, mineral-rich jaggery and raw sugar, edible oils and cow ghee, herbal and ayurvedic teas. The brand also proudly boasts of in-house products like artisan spice blends, pickles and brown semolina. Raw materials are sourced from various parts of India,” adds Sujata.

The use of organic products is crucial to sustainability. Team Earthon collaborates with farmers who cultivate their fields using organic methods without even the slightest use of hazardous fertilisers or chemicals to ensure the highest quality products.
