California headquartered, popular plant-based meat brand Beyond Meat has entered the Indian market through a partnership with FMCG brand, Allana consumer products, a subsidiary of the Allana group, later said in a press release on Thursday.
Allana Consumer Products manufactures and sells brands such as Sunny & Priya edible oils & fats. Lion Vanaspati and bakery ingredients.
“It is our immense pleasure to announce Allana Consumer Products’ collaboration with Beyond Meat to bring the premium taste of meat to the ever growing demand for vegan and healthy living community in India” commented Milind Pingle, CEO of Allana Consumer Products Division
Through this partnership, Allana Consumer Products will distribute Beyond Meat’s range of beyond burger, beyond sausage, beyond meatballs and beyond mince across the country, it is said in the release.
Presently, Beyond Meat’s products are available in more than 26 cities including Mumbai, Delhi, Bangalore, Hyderabad, Chennai, Kolkata, across modern trade and e-commerce platforms. Founded in 2009, Beyond meat sells across 1,83,000 retail and foodservice outlets in over 90 countries.
Demand for plant-based meat products has been gaining momentum in the country. As per a report, the plant-based meat market is currently valued at Rs 300 crore and is expected to reach Rs 3,500 crore by 2026.
FMCG giants such as ITC and Tata Consumer Products have joined the bandwagon of plant-based meat products. Recently, D2C brand Licious announced its entry into the plant-based meat market with the launch of UnCrave.
