Sikkim Raj Bhavan celebrates trail of organic saffron blossom

Sikkim’s success in the trail cultivation of organic saffron was celebrated at the Raj Bhavan on Sunday at the behest of Governor Ganga Prasad.

The Programme saw the participation of farmers with their first ever picked and dried stigma. The cultivators were awarded Sikkim University Certificates of Appreciation by the Governor.

Minister for agriculture and horticulture, L N Sharma and vice-chancellor Sikkim University(central) Prof Avinash Khare, secretary horticulture BB Subb were prominent among those who joined the certificate body.

Ganga Prasad congratulated the authorities, the faculty of SU, horticulture, state government officers and the farmers. He said horticulture department officials should cooperate with the farmers, inform them about the new techniques and spread awareness on the cultivation of Crocus/ Saffron in the state.
