A Pact towards a greener Earth: Brendan Synott

“I started Pact with a lofty goal: to create the comfiest clothes in the world without destroying the earth, or harming people.” Brendan Synott turned this thought to his guiding principle on his journey as an entrepreneur. Taking movements that are the buzzwords at the present time, he created Pact- for clothing that impacts the world positively- clothes that are organic and vegan.

Organically grown clothes

Synott did not dream of doing anything out of this world for internet clout or quick fame. He says, “I wanted to work on what I consider universal products and categories that consumers can have a consistent relationship with daily. Starting in the food industry and building organic, better-for-you brands, I knew there was an opportunity to take a similar approach with fashion.” Some actions do not seem path-breaking in any way, but when several people come together and practice it worldwide, in a global community, a shift is created. Synott knew what could create such a difference in the apparel industry, and connected to the source of his new idea.

“By sourcing organically grown cotton and creating sustainable practices from seed to tee, we are able to offer a comprehensive assortment of apparel and home goods that meets the highest product and sourcing standards,” says Synott. Pact uses organic cotton grown in India. It aligns itself with the values and regulations of Fair Trade USA, GOTS, and SimpliZero to ensure that its activities are not burdening the planet with more waste and carbon while depleting natural resources. Creating a brand that prioritises people and the planet, while also being a part of someone’s everyday life is what Pact is all about.

Slow and sustainable

When one accepts a big responsibility, a few hiccups are natural. Synott talks about the challenges faced as an organic nothing line- “The organic apparel industry is not as developed as it is within organic food. It’s probably 15-20 years behind. That has meant that we have to develop deep relationships with our farming and factory partners. Many other brands have sustainability as part of a capsule collection. For us, it’s woven into 100% of the products we make.” This consistency has taken 10+ years to build and is reflected in Pact’s 100% certified organic assortment. Pact offers the most comfortable and versatile clothing for men and women, as well as 100% organic cotton bedding and towels. All of its products are certified organic, Fair Trade, and carbon-neutral.

Synott is a proud businessman who has been able to bring Pact to a level where its products are exported to more than 150 countries. However, he does not abandon any answerability and holds the brand to certain standard. The Pact products are packaged in paper and not single-use plastic, sourced from a sustainable packaging company- Vela. Synott shares his aspirations with, saying, “we want Pact to become a household name. I believe that the values our brand stands for resonate with a wide range of people in the US and beyond. By making the most comfortable clothing with the best ingredients, we think there is a huge market for our products. As our company grows, we think that we can make a lasting change on the apparel industry, where more consumers are able to get the best products, at competitive prices, all made in a way that helps the planet and people making them.”
