Madake: Why bamboo is better

Meet Vidit Patni, the founder of Madake Bamboo Solutions, who lived in Manipur and did his schooling in Assam. Most of his life was spent around the places which were green, beautiful and blessed by nature in abundance.

“Being always close to nature, I always appreciated the goodness that nature offers us and started getting concerned about its future upon witnessing the effects of climate change in Manipur. I started thinking of ways to work smartly to bring out the idea of sustainable business model which has no adverse impact on the environment,” he informs. He realised that products like toothbrushes, towels and so many other household things that are used mindlessly without thinking where they come from, and how they would get disposed and what are going to be their impact on environment. His idea was to make and offer superior quality and sustainable products that every single person uses everyday.

“In 2019, I started researching while studying in college. Being from Manipur and surrounded with Bamboo plantations, I realised that Bamboo would be an incredible substitute raw material for non-biodegradable daily essentials,” he adds. That’s how he came up with the idea of using bamboo fibre in making everyday essentials like towels, toothbrushes and few other items which are though not from bamboo but are derived from nature like pillow mist, terracotta candles and salt foot and bath soak etc.

And Madake Bamboo Solutions was born. Madake is a Japanese Bamboo plant also known as Phyllostachys bambusoides.

VERSATILE STEMS:

Choosing bamboo as a core raw product was not only a wise- business decision, but also an effective one. Environmental sustainability calls for looking into eco-friendly options and bamboo just fits the bill perfectly.According to Vidit Patni, it is one of the strongest and most resilient woods in the world and the way it transforms into a soft fluffy towel, it turns out as a pleasant surprise.
