Electric vehicles are steadily taking over the roads and all for good reasons—instead of utilising fossil fuels like gasoline or diesel to recharge their batteries, these vehicles use electricity. Due to their greater efficiency and the lower cost of power, charging an electric car is more affordable than purchasing gasoline or diesel for your travel needs. The use of electric vehicles can also be more environmentally benign when powered by renewable energy sources.
Keeping all this in view along with the goal of improving the planet by reducing the carbon impact of road transportation, Altigreen, an India based electric vehicles company was started. By creating cutting-edge electric car solutions that are also cost-effective and go above and beyond the needs of current owners of fossil-fuel vehicles, this firm, founded in 2013 by Amitabh Saran hopes to spur change.
Altigreen prides itself leading the way in EV technology and Last Mile Transportation solutions, Altigreen’s mobility platforms are Made in India, built on local technology, and have over 93% domestic value added. They were specifically created with Indian conditions in mind, both environmentally and commercially.
The goal of Altigreen is to hasten the use of various electric vehicle formats and their availability, cost, and affordability. These electric vehicles will compete with combustion engine automobiles in terms of cost and performance.
Talks on technology
In order to maintain an EV’s battery health and guarantee vehicle safety, a battery management system (BMS) is essential. For the safety of drivers, the BMS in Altigreen EVs ensures long battery life, energy stability, and early detection of potential defects.
Moreover their Lithium-ion LiFePO 4 (LFP) battery packs are ideal for Indian weather conditions and can operate at high temperatures. The LFP batteries from Altigreen are tested for 30G shocks on all three axes as well as for dust and water intrusion.
The cutting-edge vehicle management and telematics solution from Altigreen relies on the CAN, MQTT, GPS, and GPRS protocols. Data transmissions have been made to be as efficient as possible in places with poor data network coverage.
Altigreen’s data scientists continue to analyse a variety of vehicle data utilising AI/ML engines to increase vehicle efficiency, foresee future faults, and create innovative ADAS systems.
With its proprietary, in-house developed 11 kWh / 51.2V electric drivetrain unit, which powers its current and future NeEV Electric 3-Wheeled Vehicles, Altigreen seeks to realise its vision of establishing a new standard for affordable and sustainable transportation designed for the Indian driving conditions.
The EVs from Altigreen have a 151 km range on a single charge, an accomplishment recognised by the Indian Automotive Research Association (ARAI). In contrast to most heavy commercial vehicles, Altigreen’s EV accelerates smoothly at high speeds. The 53 kmph mark is simply and smoothly reached. Altigreen travels farther and more quickly because of its 810 Nm of wheel torque.
Starting at 0% SOC, an Altigreen EV may be fully charged in just 3.5 hours and be ready to go. At least 120 kilometres can be covered by a fully loaded vehicle on a single charge.
Recently, the business teamed up with Exponent Energy to develop the e pack and e pump, a battery pack and charging station that combined would quickly charge Altigreen EVs from zero to one hundred percent within fifteen minutes. New vehicle models with fast-charging capabilities will soon be able to go 80–85 km after only 15 minutes of charge.
Supplying an electric story
Supply chain management (SCM) tactics used by Altigreen are up to date, reliable, and smooth. Their supply chain operation, created and managed by the Altigreen team of professionals, places a specific emphasis on strategic partnerships, indigenization, and quality control systems.
The three lakh square foot plant and warehouse at Altigreen is built using lean and agile manufacturing principles. Its thoughtful layout provides the ability to ramp up volumes with the shortest turnaround time and is able to produce 4,500 units each month. Additionally, the company works hard to encourage gender diversity because all of Altigreen’s employees in its electrics sector are women.
There are two varieties of EVs manufactured by Altigreen are Low Deck and High Deck.
The Low Deck 3-wheeler electric cargo truck from Altigreen is ideal for in-city travel. It has effective bulk cargo capacity. Groceries, necessities, perishables, bulky commodities, and industrial cargoes all fall under this category.
With a covered container to keep cargoes safe and a class-leading 177 cu ft (5 cu mts) of cargo space, Altigreen’s High Deck 3-wheeler electric cargo vehicle offers 20% more room than rivals.
Furthermore, The WorldWide Fund for Nature, Niti Aayog, ARAI, Economic Times, Elecrama, IoTNext, and IDTechEx, to name a few, have given prestigious accolades to Altigreen over the years.
