Vismaya: A 2-room hideaway on the Vembanad Lake

Sitting on the edge of a peninsula, surrounded by three sides of the pristine Vembanad lake in Kerala, Vismaya let’s you experience a sublime slice of traditional Travancore Kerala’s minimalist architecture, with an emphasis on elegant simplicity, refined detail and delectable food.

An airy refuge, this boutique villa homestay has just two rooms!

The 2-room hideaway serves as a sanctuary, bearing a fresh, pared-back aesthetic that accentuates both the lake and the sky blues outside, and the beautifully restored architecture inside.

The 400 year old royal house has found mention in the Fables of Kerala; and has been completely restored and renovated by the legendary Swiss German architect, Karl Damschen. The two near identical rooms, each have 100m2 attached bath gardens.

Breathtaking views

Kerala, located on the south coast of India, is renowned for its delicious seafood, and mouthwatering vegetarian culinary heritage. The villa’s chef, trained in Italy, also makes exquisite Continental and Italian specialities. Whether you are enjoying a breakfast at the Veranda or a light lunch at the endless poolside or a sundowner at the gloriously located jetty or bespoke dinner in the garden with breathtaking lake views all around, no meal at Vismaya is run-of-the-mill.

The most convenient airport is Cochin International Airport in Kerala. Driving from airport to Vismaya is about 70 to 90 minutes away. Head south from the airport, towards Alleppey on the NH-66. Take exit on the left at Thuravur junction, and take the left exit just before Chenganda bridge. Vismaya is at the end of the road.
