Ancient Greenfields: Ancient secrets for modern health

Food patterns of nations, popular people propagating a supposed unhealthy body are all heated topics that people love to hear about when it comes to obesity.

Still, there exist countries affected by malnutrition. People starve for nutritious and well-balanced food. In 2010, brothers K Murali and K Selvaraj found a nature-based solution to reduce this widespread crisis – the nutrient dense Moringa (drumstick).

“We started offering Moringa Leaf Powder, Moringa Teas etc which were like a boon to the people in Africa. They started reaping the benefits of this Miracle Tree’s leaves. Regular consumption of moringa was a sustainable healthy diet and gave them plethora of benefits as it is rich in antioxidants, vitamins, minerals, iron, protein and a lot more,” shares Murali. That’s how Ancient Greenfields India, Asia’s largest manufacturer and exporter of Moringa Products under the brand name and style “Organic Veda” was on its way to success.

Modern technology

The founders of the company were actively engaged in manufacturing, product sales & marketing, with more than 20 years of experience in the field of agriculture and agricultural produce. Their experiences and vast management skills helped the company to grow extensively since its humble beginnings. But starting a business with the best for people in mind is no easy task.

Selvaraj shares, “The need for finding trustworthy suppliers offering healthy organic products, following all the international protocols of quality, to the consumers was difficult.” This led to them setting up the company.

Today, Ancient Greenfields produces and manufactures moringa oleifera seeds for several cultivation projects around the world. Their own brand Organic Veda offers a variety of products: Organic SuperFoods, Natural Health Supplements, Ayurvedic Herbs, Moringa Products, Turmeric Curcumin Products, Herbal Teas, Spices and Edible Oils.

“Our vision is a differently functional friendly market with the promise of organic agriculture and delivery of organic products from Mother Nature to consumers worldwide. All from farms that are celebrated for their innovative design, social equity and stewardship of land where healthy and fair returns are shared among all in the supply chain,” the proud duo shares.

Selvaraj says, “We have state-of-the-art production lines and follow international standards for hygiene and sanitation. The machineries and the production lines are made of food grade stainless steel material. Automation in machinery wherever required is implied to reduce the risk of contamination to the food products. More technologically improved methods of processing, packaging, storage & handling are adopted for economic efficiency.”

The company has an in-house laboratory with all sophisticated infrastructures and hi-tech equipment for analysing the products manufactured and a production capacity of nearly 8000 mt per annum. The company exports to countries including United States, European Union, China, Japan, Sri Lanka, Singapore, Malaysia, South Africa et al.

By 2014, they were working with over 100 farmers across the country.

“Nowadays people are more conscious of their health and prefer healthy, balanced, nutritious and organic foodstuffs. The search for organic product manufacturers is increasing day by day around the world and many countries have framed their own regulatory laws. Our commitment includes compliance to all applicable laws and regulations consistent with international standards,” Murali adds.

The founders express their hope of continuing to produce and export herbal supplements, nutraceuticals and healthcare products, offering protection to their consumers. “We want to keep building a rich client database by offering quality products and thereby increasing consumer confidence in Organic Veda brand products, this is our foremost responsibility.
