The Agribusiness Incubator (ABI) at the Icrisat (International Crops Research Institute for the Semi-Arid Tropics) has invited applications from ag-tech start-ups for funding and support.
On the other hand, the National Initiative for Developing and Harnessing Innovations-Seed Support Programme is also supporting the funding program (NIDHI-SSP). Startups which are chosen for incubation will receive funding for up to Rs 50 lakh. ‘Indian start-ups working on novel technology or business models in the agri-food and related industries are encouraged to apply for,’ ABI-ICRISAT head Aravazhi Selvaraj said in a statement on Tuesday.
Aravazhi stated that their last call for applications under the NIDHI-SSP received a good response and however they are eagerly awaiting applications from creative agri-tech start-ups in response to their second request. ‘This seed fund support will enable graduates to reach the next levels of growth and fundraising,’ told Victor Afari-Sefa, Icrisat’s Global Research Program Director (Enabling Systems Transformation).
