Evgenia Roudnikli: The beauty Cosmos

Spending time in her grandparents’ gardens as a teenager, one day Evgenia made some creams consisting of fruits and nuts. When she presented her natural product to her grandparents, they wanted to know what she would name her brand. Her immediate answer was “Cosmenia”. Little did she know that one day, she would actually run a brand of the same name!

Our secret moisturizer

Today, with the aim of providing vegan and sustainable cosmetic products, Evgenia Roudnikli is the founder of Cosmenia Beauty GMBH, a Germany-based cosmetic company. Founded in 2013, she runs the company with co-founder Julian Vogele.

Evgenia explains “Cosmenia stands for a holistic beauty approach without ideals, but with good values. We focus on simple beauty routines that are highly effective and make you feel good throughout your body, mind, and soul.”

The inspiration

Evgenia shares how she combined the word “Cosmetic” with her name “Evgenia” to form the word Cosmenia.

As for the inspiration behind the company, since it’s hard enough to find cosmetic products of high quality and high efficiency with long-lasting effects at an affordable price, Roudnikli wanted a cosmetic brand where all of this wasn’t a problem. She wanted to make sure that people find sustainable products more attractive and that organic products aren’t only reserved for the elite class. That is certainly a bold move, as the market in general hasn’t seen much shift towards sustainability.

The initial years

The first few years of any company are always bumpy and for Evgenia, the development of the first products was “the most exciting and difficult part.” She explained how she had set her priorities on finding suitable manufacturers, finding raw materials, and product research. And also looking into proper certification. Then the main focus was testing the products after they were manufactured. It was difficult for her to find a suitable production facility at first, but her efforts paid off as she not only found a certified laboratory, but also one that believes in the use of pure raw materials and makes sure the employees are paid equally.

Certifications

Of course, a company’s goodwill only gets better once it gets proper certificates to prove its worth. Cosmenia has obtained those in its own right over the years.

The plant where Cosmenia products are manufactured has sustainability certifications of ECOCERT, Cosmos and Bureau Veritas. Cosmenia has also won an award for the best organic skincare in Germany.

Skincare for the future

Many companies are using sustainable ways to produce their goods, so to help the environment and not cause further harm which other companies already do.

Cosmenia already makes sure to use organic raw materials which ensures sustainability and makes a difference in the environment. Adding onto this, the company also follows the three factors of sustainability: economic, environmental, and social. The brand  also focuses on recycling of packaging and modern technology to make sure regenerative energies are used. But this is not where Evgenia wants to stop as she is aware more can be done in this area.

The company aims to bring more natural cosmetic products to the market and also work on sustainability in the area of packaging and transportation.
