Plant-based make up brand, Juice Beauty launches in India

The company behind e-commerce player Boddess.com — a beauty-tech retailer– has additionally now launched a plant-based makeup brand called Juice Beauty in India.

Guru gram-based House of Beauty – the corporate that launched Boddess in India in 2020, mentioned that they will expand the American beauty brand, Juice Beauty, through 20-30 sales points within the coming days. The corporate also will have a tie up with different online Omni-channel retailers to sell their products.

Juice Beauty, launched by entrepreneur Karen Behnke, is ‘the farm to Beauty’ initiative. She says the corporate is ‘radically remodelling the chemistry of beauty by providing clinically valid, genuinely organic beauty merchandise.

Juice Beauty was born out of a passion for environmentalism, a commitment to wellness and healthy beauty products obsession triggered with the Founder’s pregnancies: It all started when Karen Behnke, a serial wellness entrepreneur, who built one of the first corporate wellness companies in the country, developed a keen interest in personal care products with her first pregnancy at age 40. Experiencing hormonal changes and the beginning of lines in her skin, Karen set out to find healthy skincare solutions that delivered visible results.

In August last year House of Beauty additionally launched a star makeup brand Anastasia Beverly Hills in India. Founder, Ritika Sharma says Juice Beauty will be a part of its list of 75 beauty brands on its website which will be the lifestyles of individuals, post-Covid. The Indian beauty market is witnessing a paradigm shift as shoppers are currently on the lookout for products that work on a holistic level.

This shift in customer buying behaviour, she says, has resulted in significant demand for ‘clean; beauty and ‘waterless’ beauty. Though presently they are at a nascent stage, it is the future in beauty, for conscious and aware consumers.

The organic beauty market is an extremely small segment in India at the moment. Natural and organic constitute between 5%-10% of the total beauty & personal care market though growing relatively fast, adds Sharma.

According to database company Statista, revenue in the natural cosmetics segment amounts to $834.5m in 2021. The market is expected to grow annually by 7.83% (CAGR 2021-2025) in India. In global comparison, most revenue is generated in China ($2,325M, in 2021).
