Launch of AIOI website to boost India as organic products hub

The Association of Indian Organic Industry (AIOI) recently launched its website and first newsletter. Parshottambhai Rupala, Minister of State for Agriculture, Cooperation and Farmers Welfare, Government of India, said at the launch that this is a timely and much-needed initiative. India will become the world’s leading organic goods center with the support of stakeholders, industry experts, commodity boards, and farmers.

He congratulated AIOI members for taking this lead and expressed support to the organic industry. It allowed the Association to enhance the organic food sector in India by allowing it to establish and expand capabilities. There is an echoed vision of the Prime Minister to double farmer income and export of agricultural products. He claimed that Sikkim has built a scientific research centre to encourage organic food production.

Alongside launch, the virtual meeting saw insightful panel discussion amongst eminent experts. The panelists noted that there was a need for associating farmers in the policy making process. There is a guarantee of fair income for farmers and growth in the organic sector.

Customers’ belief in organic food is dependent on its purity. The purity of organic food influences customers’ perceptions of it.

The Association of Indian Organic Industry (AIOI) is a non-profit organisation. The comprising members are from the organic industry’s many segments, including exporters, importers, traders, and others.
