Rewriting sustainability on paper: Ashutosh Ananth & Naren Raj

Two friends were reminiscing about their business aspirations over a cup of filter coffee three years after graduating from Christ University Bangalore. This nostalgia motivated them to take the entrepreneurial jump and start a firm named Bunpai (derived from the term “distribution” in Japanese). The pair carefully selected a few gifting choices for businesses like Infosys, SAP, and EY after sensing an opportunity in the corporate sustainability gifting market. As time went by, their firm expanded, and they gradually discovered all there was to know about corporate gifting.

They grew alongside the business as young entrepreneurs. There was, however, another aspect to this. The duo were contemplating the state of the earth and how corporate giving might affect current ecological issues. This nagging notion eventually developed into a loud, persistent feeling that the two could not get rid of. Their conscience was stirred, and they realised that they would have to take the initiative as young business people. At this turning point they saw that if they took it upon themselves to pivot and make their business about a cause that can benefit the future of the globe, they might still succeed. And so was born Rescript. The two friends made the difficult choice of leaving corporate gifting and became forerunners of the recycled paper industry in India.

Rescripting conventional 

Today, Rescript is a well-known brand in stationery stores throughout the nation. Not only are Naren and Ashutosh altering the perception of corporate gifting’s sustainability, but they are also fundamentally altering how people view notebooks for students and copy paper.

“Our product line caters to all the needs of all workplaces and educational institutions. We range from copier paper for printing, student notebooks, Journals, pens and pencils. Our paper is FSC certified as well. FSC (Forest Stewardship Council) is an International body that has audited our process and certified as to what we have claimed,” says Ashutosh talking about their product line.
