The Kokum Tree: Coming home

Located in the Konkan District of Raigad, is The Kokum Tree, an experiential homestay tucked amongst a blooming orchard. It is the brainchild of two courageous women who abandoned their professions in quest for a more simple and organic way of living.

Founders Anuja Phakde and Sneha Mahashabde are childhood friends; Anuja worked as a management consultant, while Sneha was an architect. About four years ago in 2019, they left their hectic city dwelling lives and moved to their grandmother’s place in Lonere with a vision to transform it into sanctuary of calm. For more than a decade, their Aaji (grandmother) cared for and maintained the land, creating an edible forest that is already ideal for a weekend vacation.
